Video of a presentation by Alan Chandler at The University of Manitoba Faculty of Architecture and its Centre for Architectural Structures and Technology (C.A.S.T.) conference on the subject of flexible fabric membranes as formwork for concrete structures and architecture. In the video Alan Chandler discusses the work into carbon-neutral casting being done at the University of East London. Since 2004 full scale carbon neutral casting with rammed earth and lime/hemp has been underway with Rowland Keable in parallel to fabric-casting conventional and ‘super’ concretes. Students and staff at the University of East London have developed in-situ fabric earth walling, a travelling fabric formwork system, and fabric formwork earth columns. Carbon neutral casting is the substance of the presentation.
