How to create an account with roar@UEL to deposit work yourself
1). Creating an account
Although you don’t need to have an account in order to view publications deposited in the University of East London institutional repository you do need to be an authorised user in order to deposit research materials into roar. This “authorised user” status is restricted to current University of East London staff only.
To become an authorised user go to the front page of the roar site http://roar.uel.ac.uk and select the “My roar” link on the left hand column.

- You then select "Enter your UEL network Username and Password"
NOTE:
The first time you select "Enter your UEL network Username and Password" there will be no apparent change on screen. What this action will do however is register you on the system database.
- You will be notified via an email (within two working days) that an authorised user account has been set up for you and you will then be able to upload research paper to your School collection.
- Once you have received confirmation that you have been set up as an authorised user you can login in to “My roar” using your UEL network Username and Password.
2). Depositing your research material
Now - and every subsequent time you login into roar@UEL - after
you have entered your UEL username and password from the "my roar" link on the home page:
| Go to "Communities and Collections" in the left hand column |
 |
| |
|
Select the appropriate collection within your own School community, eg "Library and Learning Services (scholarly publications) " in this example
(nb there may only one collection within the community) |
 |
| Then you simply click the "Submit to This Collection" button and enter the publication details that are subsequently requested. |
|
| Detailed step by step instructions for each stage of the submission process can be found in the help section of roar |
 |
NB Please remember to include at least 6 keywords and an abstract in relation to the submitted research material in order to enhance the visibility of your research paper by the roar@UEL’s search engine as well as external search engines such as Google Scholar and OAIster, the international catalogue of repository resources.
